The movie has its gore, but it’s based around natural causes, which almost makes it worse. Although I love my pick of horror films, sometimes I struggle with the bloodshed. I sat on the edge of my seat, knowing that even the “calmer” moments would end in chaos. It’s what makes the film so exhilarating. Sometimes, the movie would go completely silent, and my sister and I anxiously awaited the arrival of a new deadly creature.Ī Quiet Place 2: It’s Quiet, 2 Quiet /bHqlG8aNrN The quietness takes a toll on you when watching. Part II follows the Abbott family – mother Evelyn, her deaf daughter Regan, son Marcus, and Evelyn’s newborn – while they leave their now-destroyed home to look for living people. To stay alive, one must remain quiet, as the title suggests. The movie functions in a post-apocalyptic world where blind alien-type monsters with hypersensitive hearing land on Earth and have killed most of society. I won’t do that here to spare those who still need to watch it. She did need some spoilers from the ending of A Quiet Place to make connections. I’d urge you to watch to understand the plot better, but my sister hadn’t seen the first one, and she said she followed the movie fine. When I’ve spent more than a year streaming blockbuster movies from my TV or computer, it’s nice to soak in the power of a big screen, cushioned reclining seats, and surround sound. I’m grateful that my return to the movies came from seeing A Quiet Place Part II. I admired the fact that I could feel such strong emotions towards the characters while also getting my fill of fright. John Krasinski’s A Quiet Place has had a hold on me since watching the first film at the AMC theater in Boston in my sophomore year of college.
